SEN Teaching Assistant – Long-Term Positions Starting September

Pay: £13.75 per hour (paid weekly)
Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs (SEN)? Do you want to make a genuine difference in a setting that values care, patience, and understanding? We are beginning to recruit staff to work with a Specialist SEN School in Hampshire and need Local Teaching Assistants for Short and long term roles starting this September.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support students aged 4-16 with a variety of additional needs including Autism (ASD), speech and language difficulties, moderate learning difficulties (MLD), and social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH).
Role Details:
* Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
* Start Date: September 2025
* Pay: £13.75 per hour (paid weekly)
* Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (school hours, term-time only)
* Contract Type: Long-term (with potential for permanent opportunities)
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEN across various age groups
* Assist with learning activities, both in and outside of the classroom
* Support students in developing communication, emotional regulation, and social skills
* Help implement behavioural strategies and promote a positive classroom environment
* Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and SEN specialists
What We’re Looking For:
* Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEN setting
* Patience, empathy, and a calm approach to supporting challenging behaviours
* A proactive and flexible attitude, with a genuine desire to make a difference
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A valid Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one at your own cost)
* Relevant training (e.g. Team Teach, PECS, Makaton) is desirable but not essential
