Key Responsibilities:
The Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining all LV, Electrical and Instrumentation equipment and control systems on the Weavergate site.
The EC&I Maintenance Technician delivers results by having a broad range of technical skills and experience, ideally gained working on a Top tier COMAH chemical manufacturing site. He/she will have experience of working with process manufacturing equipment, instrumentation and automated packaging equipment. He/she will also offer flexibility and provide assistance to the Maintenance Manager in planning and scoping of work activities, designing and developing technical improvements and liaising with suppliers and contractors. He/she will have strong coaching skills.
Organisational Position: The EC&I Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager and is a key member of the site maintenance team working together to deliver results.
Hours of Work: The site currently operates 5 days per week (Mon – Fri), from 6:00 – 21:00, with shift 1 operating 6:00 – 14:00, and shift 2 operating 13:00 – 21:00. Current requirement is for a shift-based role, alternating between the shifts weekly. Hours of work for this role however, need to be flexible depending on business need with occasional need for day or weekend work. A suitable notification period will be provided when changing hours of work and remuneration will include the appropriate site shift allowance when on shifts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: After completion of appropriate training and sign off the EC&I Maintenance Technician is required to complete the following duties:
Safety
1. Understand and comply with all Site Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) requirements and improvement programmes.
2. Carry out Behavioural Safety Observations and give feedback to colleagues.
3. Preparation and use of Risk Assessments.
4. Address colleagues and 3rd parties when they are not operating in a safe manner.
5. Report near misses, incidents, and accidents to site management as soon as possible.
6. Proactively make suggestions to improve site SHE.
7. Maintain site housekeeping and 5S standards.
8. Understand and follow site Management of Change Procedures.
9. Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory electrical regulations.
10. Site Competent person
11. Participate as a member of the site Emergency Response Team, including spill containment / clean up, fire response and casualty search (This may require the use of breathing apparatus and therefore the employee must be clean shaven at all times).
Service
12. Knowledge of PLC and SCADA Programming and maintenance.
13. Maintenance of automated packaging equipment.
14. Instrumentation set up and maintenance.
15. Equipment failure root cause analysis.
16. Identification and implementation of improvement opportunities to minimise site breakdowns and optimise equipment performance (TPM/Preventative Maintenance).
17. Working with suppliers and contractors to self-manage maintenance work.
18. Reporting of equipment repairs and inspection conclusions in Computerised Maintenance Management System.
Savings
19. Working to weekly maintenance schedules and ensuring activities are undertaken in a timely and efficient manner
20. Providing support and training to site operational staff to improve equipment performance through autonomous maintenance.
21. Identifying cost effective solutions to engineering problems
22. Management of small maintenance improvement, replacement and cost reduction projects.
Qualifications and Experience:
23. Time served EC&I technician, minimum ONC, NVQ level 3 or equivalent in an EC&I discipline (suitable alterative experience will be considered).
24. Minimum of 5 years’ experience, ideally working on a Top Tier COMAH chemical site.
25. Ability to work on own initiative, self-motivated and disciplined.
26. Strong communication skills.
27. Strong trouble shooting and coaching skills.
28. COMPEX trained for hazardous area work.
29. Trained in 18th edition electrical wiring regulations.
30. Experience of working on Chemical process equipment (instrumentation and control systems).
31. Experience of working with hazardous chemicals.
32. Experience of working on automated packaging equipment.
33. Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management systems.
34. Experience of TPM/lean techniques.
35. Experience of Root Cause Analysis techniques.
