Salary: This position is entirely voluntary and is therefore unpaid
Do you have a knack for numbers and a passion for conservation? The RSPB Lisburn Local Group, a well-established part of the community for almost 50 years, is seeking a treasurer to help manage our finances and support our mission of protecting nature.
What you will be doing
1. Collecting and banking income from group activities.
2. Monitoring group finances regularly, ensuring that all income and expenditure for the group is recorded whether of a charitable nature or otherwise.
3. Ensuring surplus funds are donated to the RSPB when appropriate, while keeping enough for group operating costs.
4. Arranging for the accounts to be audited.
5. Presenting a financial report at each group AGM, summarising income and expenditure for the previous year, progress during the current year and recommendations concerning funding, including the proposed level of subscription.
6. Completing the annual financial return for the group and returning it to the Finance Department by the deadline given.
The skills you will need
1. Comfortable keeping simple accounts.
2. Comfortable handling and accounting for charity money.
3. Well organised and conscientious.
4. Effective communication skills, to liaise with other volunteers.
5. Computer literate with internet and email access, and a willingness to engage with internet-based methods of communication.
6. Passion and enthusiasm to help give nature a home.
