On behalf of Rolls Royce, AMS are currently recruiting for a Dimensional Manufacturing Engineer, working on a 12-month contract based in Derby on the Precision Casting Facility (PCF) In recent years the facility has seen multimillion investment cementing its exciting future. The factory is the home of casting technologies (including Single Crystal) for High Pressure, Intermediate Pressure and Low-Pressure turbine blades supplied into Civil, Defence and Business Jet Customers. Overview of role: As a Dimensional Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide technical support to the dimensional inspection cell, ensuring that the processes are standardised, error proofed, in control and Right First Time. Core duties and responsibilities Our products are extremely complex, which demands a high calibre of engineering. Consequently, you will provide a very significant opportunity in driving forward Rolls-Royce's key engine projects within Civil Aerospace, Defence & Business Aviation. You will also be provided with a great career development opportunity. Day to day technical support to the plant dimensional cell and proof department covering the following processes: Computer Tomography, CMM, Ultrasonic, Comparator Gauges and Caliper Gauges. Measurement System Analysis studies (Gauge R&R) to validate changes to the measurement system, introduction of new components, fixtures and software upgrades. Lead improvement activities in the dimensional cell to aid cost savings, cell capacity increase, quicker data access, improved data integrity and increased functionality. Key Skills and experience required (E.G skilled or unskilled) You will have a degree, or equivalent, in an engineering or related technical discipline with previous experience in a manufacturing engineering and/or process engineering background. You will have strong analytical skills, be determined, have a proven record of technical problem-solving skills along with knowledge of six sigma / lean techniques and be comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced changing environment. You will possess high computer literacy, excellent organisational, communication and presentation skills and feel comfortable presenting at all levels. You will be an enthusiastic candidate with a flexible attitude to work and a keen interest in learning. Good team working skills are essential. You will have strong drawing interpretation skills, with previous experience in Measurement Systems or an interest in developing professionally in that area. Measurement systems programming, NX or CAD experience is a bonus.
