Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Foundation Trust breast services, have an exciting opportunity to join our multi-disciplinary team, due to a retirement.
Our team is looking for an experienced Breast Care Nurse to work within the screening and symptomatic service. Currently working as a Band 6 or above, with surgical and oncology experience.
We are looking for an individual with a keen interest in Family History, and has the relevant experience or willingness to work towards gaining this knowledge.
We are a friendly forward-thinking team, working together using a multi-disciplinary approach to achieve the best outcome for our patients.
Main duties of the job
* Provides a specialist, continuing, supportive Breast Care Service within the hospital and community setting, offering optimum healthcare to patients, their families and carers.
* Manages and organizes own caseload.
* To work within the breast screening setting and family history service.
* Arm lymphoedema assessment.
* Provides specialist breast care education, training and imparts sensitive information for patients, their carers and other healthcare professionals, ensuring that patient confidentiality is maintained.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Provides professional clinical leadership, guidance, expert advice and support within the Breast Care Nursing team.
* Delivers high quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care within clearly defined guidelines and protocols, improving the patient experience and meeting local needs.
Person specification
Qualifications
* RN with current NMC registration
* Degree/degree pathway in health-related subject or extensive experience (5 years +) as a specialist Breast Care Nurse at Band 6 level with evidence of ongoing CPD
* ENB A11 or equivalent specialist Breast Care qualification.
* Leadership course/degree module or willingness to undertake.
* Family History training or willingness to undertake
* Demonstrate counselling skills experience/qualification
* Oncology qualification e.g. ENB237 cancer course or equivalent.
* Advanced communications skills.
* Experience in arm lymphoedema assessment.
Experience
* Significant (3+ years) post-registration experience at Band 6 in Breast Care (if a graduate as above)
* Evidence of professional leadership, leading to innovation in practice.
* Evidence of effective clinical leadership, actively promoting working across professional and organisational boundaries.
* Experience of participation in outpatient clinic in this specialty.
* Evidence of involvement in policy development/guidelines.
* Experience in clinical audits
Skills
* Ability to communicate potentially unpleasant/sensitive information to patients in a variety of settings.
* Able to influence and overcome resistance through application of advanced communication skills.
* Demonstrates: Ability to manage own caseload. Ability to perform assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care. Ability to perform relevant clinic skills. Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues across health and social care settings.
* Basic IT skills.
* Able to present information to professional groups.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of professional and NHS issues and policy relating to breast disease management and implications/application to clinical practice.
* Evidence of continuing professional development
