Job summary
The post holder will work as a member of the Food Service team and will be responsible for providing the day to day operational supervision of a large number of Food Service Assistants (FSA) split across a large site, thus ensuring the promotion of a high quality food and beverage operation for our patients.
The post holder will report to the Assistant Facilities Manager (AFM) for the respective zone and will support the department in delivery of all types of food in an ever-changing NHS landscape.
The post holder will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of food safety and cleanliness in all ward catering kitchens and ensuring the service of all types of food is provided to the expected standards required of the department.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring all areas of Food Services are staffed to the agreed levels and that the Trust Food Safety Management System is implemented and maintained.
The post holder will be based at City Campus; however, cross site working may be required.
The post holder will support both the Facilities Manager (FM) and AFM in implementing additional changes within the service, on a day to day basis, as an example but not limited to enacting the food service business continuity plan.
The post holder will be responsible for the day to day staff rotas, ensuring all areas within food services are staffed to the agreed levels ensuring we can continue to meet the needs of the service.
Main duties of the job
To provide first line management supervision of the food services team as part of the zonal structure for food services.
The post holder will ensure that sufficient staff are on shift to deliver the agreed level of service to all areas within specified zones.
The post holder will also carry out audits, monitor standards, develop action plans and track progress as required.
The post holder will also be responsible for undertaking the appraisals of their teams and ensuring mandatory training is completed.

* Food Safety Level 3 Certificate
* Professional knowledge acquired through vocational qualification level 3, City and Guilds or equivalent plus additional knowledge acquired through training and experience to diploma or equivalent level
* Knowledge of work procedures, practices and equipment for a cleaning service
* Basic computer skills

* Evidence of personal development in previous employment
* Knowledge of audits and surveys
* Experience of following and implementing food service related elements of a food safety management service inclusive of HACCP
