The International Policyand Partnerships sits within HM Treasury's Financial Servicesgroup, is a friendly team of around 20 people that leads on theUK's relationship with other countries and jurisdictions wherethere are well-developed inter-institutional arrangements forcooperation on financial services. This includes the EU, Gibraltar,Switzerland, Singapore, Japan, Australia and the United States. Wework on the development of and policy related to regulatory toolsneeded to build these internationalrelationships.
Aboutthe Role
We are looking for aSenior Policy Adviser to help lead our Financial Services MarketAccess branch. Great policy making is about understanding whatneeds to change, what problems need to be solved and supportingMinisters to arrive at the best solution to deliver the change, andthe branch develops policy on and handles HM Treasury’s tools forimproving international market access in financial services. Youwill contribute to the growth and competitiveness of the UKfinancial services sector by improving the ease with which firmsare able to safely carry out cross-border financial services, bothfrom and into the UK market.
Keyaccountabilities
1. Deliverreform of the UK's overseas regimes to improve ease of cross-borderfinancial services trade for UK-based firms and overseas firmsaccessing the UK market
2. Handle the pipeline ofoverseas regime designations to improve the UK's relationships withkey financial services partners around theworld
3. Implement the Gibraltar AuthorisationRegime to provide a long-term market access solution forGibraltar-based financial services firms in theUK
4. Build positive relationships with colleaguesin the Bank of England, the Prudential Regulation Authority and theFinancial Conduct Authority to enable effective implementation anddelivery of market access regimes for financialservices
5. Build and maintain positiverelationships with key overseascollaborators
6. Line manage two SEOs to provideencouraging and development-focusedleadership
