The NIHR-funded HDRC Coventry aims to improve the use of evidence and research on the factors that impact the health of Coventry's diverse local communities. What is the job role?The role is part of the HDRC team in the Councils Public Health service, it is central to developing and delivering quantitative and mixed methods, particularly using routine data within the local authority working with universities, NHS, voluntary sector and residents.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a forward-thinking local authority environment to help develop processes, capacity and skills for research into the wider determinants of health to have impact on health inequalities.
This role has close links with Coventry University. It is a 18-month fixed-term contract.
Who are we looking for?We are looking for someone who has broad knowledge and ability to develop, conduct and support others to undertake research to improve decisions in a local authority setting working with academics and others.
You will be motivated to support the use of data through research and work as part of a diverse motivated team and Collaboration that wants to make a difference in the wider determinants of health and health inequalities.
The role needs someone who can advise, develop and adapt methods to a local authority real world setting, and can explain complex research to a non-academic audience.
You should have an interest, skills and experience in the use of routine quantitative data and data management in research, but also be comfortable with qualitative data for mixed-methods research.
You should be adaptable, creative, organized and enthusiastic and willing to learn new skills and work with new people.
You will have the ability to work effectively within a team, take responsibility for your own work, and be comfortable working within a complex and evolving working environment.
You will be motivated to support and work directly with people in council teams, universities, voluntary sector and residents, to help shape and develop new ideas for using research evidence to inform decision-making.
