TILT Institute for the Contemporary Image is seeking experienced candidates for the position of Development Director. The Development Director will work in collaboration with the CEO to establish and achieve fundraising goals for the programming and general operating needs of TILT. The Development Director will also work with other development staff to achieve these goals through multiple initiatives including membership, major gifts, grants, events, and sponsorships.
The ideal candidate will be experienced and passionate about the visual arts; and enjoy working in a collaborative, and extremely fast-paced environment within a growing organization. The ideal candidate will be organized, able to work independently as well as with a team, self-motivated, extremely driven, articulate, sociable, and possess the ability to lead and problem-solve. The ideal candidate will also be an individual who utilizes a systems-driven approach to achieve goals. This position balances equal parts strategy and implementation and seeks an individual who can engage in big-picture thinking without losing sight of the day-to-day development activities.
As a key thought leader at TILT, this is a key position within the organization while also allowing for creative freedom while fostering funding partnerships that reflect our Community Agreement.
Major Activities
Reporting to and in collaboration with the CEO:
1. Develop and execute TILT’s annual fundraising plan.
2. Research, identify, and establish new foundation and government funding streams. Participate in prioritizing and planning for new funding opportunities.
3. Work across departments to draft grant proposals.
4. Develop and track proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising.
5. Create strategic goals and initiatives to ensure a significant base of unrestricted major donor support to successfully meet annual fund projections.
6. Direct and monitor database management and maintenance for efficiency and accuracy of donation and constituent processing.
7. Strengthen TILT’s ability to raise major and planned gifts through formalized processes of prospect research, cultivation, and stewardship.
8. Represent TILT to stakeholders and the community at large. Work to engage a large and diverse community in the mission and programs of TILT.
9. Develop an annual contributed income budget.
10. Interface and report to the Board of Trustees.
11. Supervise the Membership Coordinator who handles membership drives, events, and exhibitions.
Position Requirements:
1. Minimum of 3 years of fundraising/membership experience in the visual arts.
2. Must have a keen interest in and knowledge of the visual arts.
3. Detail-oriented with excellent organization and planning skills.
4. Strong social, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
5. Demonstrated drive and success in setting priorities and achieving goals.
6. Experience working with decision-makers, board members, and other volunteers.
7. Excellent computer skills including the Microsoft Office and Google suite of programs.
8. Experience with SalesForce, Constant Contacts, and preferably Quickbooks. Comfortability generating reports from Salesforce and Quickbooks.
9. Collaborative team player that interacts successfully with colleagues to realize mutual goals.
10. Must possess a strong work ethic and be a motivated, enthusiastic team player who embraces the mission of the organization.
11. Ability to initiate and build relationships with prospective donors, maintaining the highest degree of poise and professionalism.
12. Proven organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and produce high-quality results.
13. Demonstrated results in developing cultivation strategies and closing new gifts.
14. Demonstrated understanding of the best practices in fundraising and current philanthropic trends.
15. Knowledge of the Philadelphia business and philanthropic community.

This is a salaried position that includes 4 weeks of PTO, insurance (health, dental, disability, and life), a matching SIMPLE IRA and flexible hybrid working hours. Salaried position, $40k-$55k dependent on experience and skills.
