A great opportunity to be part of our Water Performance team working passionately to deliver our commitment towards providing water for life to enhance health and wellbeing, protect and improve the environment and sustain the economy.
As a Senior Water Quality Process Scientist working within our Compliance team, you will be investigating water quality breaches (sample failures) by analyzing data, sourcing information, and working collaboratively across functions. You will play a key role in ensuring that the frontline Operations and Scientific teams maintain compliance with both Environment Agency and Drinking Water Inspectorate Regulations governing abstraction, discharge, and water quality.
As part of the role in ensuring water quality compliance, you will undertake detailed investigations into the root cause of water quality compliance failures and produce reports with recommendations for remedial actions and continuous improvement.
Your primary focus will be to conduct detailed root cause analysis investigations following any breach of DWI PCV limits in the potable water quality at our Water Supply Works, Reservoirs, or Zones. This will include site visits, in-depth data analysis, and auditing of paperwork and adherence to procedures to recommend measures that can be taken both locally and across our region to prevent such breaches from occurring in the future. You will then help to implement these measures by working with other teams to edit or write procedures and produce Operational Briefings to staff at all levels within the business.
To be successful in this role, you must have a strong understanding of water chemistry/biology and the principles of water treatment, as well as the regulatory requirements affecting the provision of wholesome drinking water. Excellent written/verbal communication and data analytic skills are essential due to the requirement of producing reports and analysis for stakeholders at all levels. Ideally, you will also have a Degree in a scientific or engineering discipline; however, it is not essential.
