We are looking for a compassionate, motivated individual with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills who is dedicated to working as part of a team. We have a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and experienced nurse to undertake the role of Junior Sister/Charge Nurse.
Your role will involve acting as the Nurse in Charge with oversight and management of the staffing and patient activity within the unit. Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) provides same day emergency assessments, diagnostics and treatment to patients to meet their clinical needs without the requirement for admission into hospital.
Patients are referred from GP's, Emergency Department, WAST, NHS 111 and CNS's. Your role, requiring strong, professional leadership qualities, is critical to the quality of care, staff morale, and the learning environment including liaison with the unit manager. You will lead and coordinate a dedicated team and support staff to ensure the delivery of a high standard of nursing care.
Your role as the Junior Sister/Charge Nurse requires you to assist in managerial duties, the day-to-day running of SDEC, and supporting junior members of staff. You will provide a high standard of individualised care to patients, acting as a role model and supporting the Senior Sister in driving quality care provision forward. You will be responsible for standards of cleanliness in your own clinical area in partnership with the Senior Sister and provide clear clinical leadership to staff, deputising for the Senior Sister in their absence.
In the absence of the Senior Sister, you will be responsible for the effective deployment of department resources including manpower, adherence to NMC Code of Practice at all times, and ensure unit compliance with and application of hospital policies and procedures.
You will assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of Governance systems in the department relating to Risk Management, Health and Safety, and Controls Assurance.
