Functional Skills Tutor HMP Dovegate Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 0800-1645 hours Salary: £33,738.00 - £36,467.00 depending on experience plus Serco benefits. HMP Dovegate is a category B male establishment prison based on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border near Uttoxeter. You will be an inspiring tutor with a background in education and ideally will have had experience of working within your specialist area of English and/or Maths. Good technical knowledge and skills are essential. Experience of working with learners from non-traditional backgrounds would also be beneficial. You will be gifted in delivering varied, high quality and imaginative sessions and have a record of good retention and success rates. You will be delivering Functional Skills in work-based areas and experience of Outreach working would be an advantage. Engage in core duties including preparation, marking, monitoring student progress, preparing reports, setting, and marking of examination papers, developing and preparing flexible learning materials, writing schemes of work and mentoring. Playing an active role in the marketing of the provision; you will record and monitor key data including but not limited to retention, achievement and success rates. What you’ll need to do the role Qualifications: Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF) Level 3 - subject specialism Experience teaching post age 16 and/or adult further education Desirable: Level 5 DET Level 5 - subject specialism Training, Assessment and Quality Assurance Level 4 Experience: Have proven experience of working in an environment that demands strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Have demonstrated flexibility and the ability to work to deadlines and under pressure. Recent experience and appropriate knowledge. Experience of a custodial environment would be an advantage. Experience of working with learners from non-traditional backgrounds. Good technical knowledge and skills. Skills and Abilities: Able to form good working relationships. Responds to identified needs by undertaking self-directed learning, research and training as required. Establishes internal/external links as required.
