About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Linux Engineer to join our 3rd line support team. This role focuses on managing and maintaining a diverse server farm running various Linux distributions, with a particular emphasis on AlmaLinux 9 and Oracle Enterprise Linux 9 implementation. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in Linux server administration and be able to work effectively within an established team environment. Primary Responsibilities: Execute project work including OS upgrades and new server builds Maintain high standards of customer service when working within the customer's team and when interacting with other technical and non-technical departments Create and update documentation of working procedures in the team Wiki Attend and participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings, clearly articulating and justifying production changes Work with highly customized in-house systems, including: Deployment tools Linux package management (in-house repositories and updating source code for RPM packages) OS configuration management Essential Skills and Experience Extensive practical experience with RedHat, CentOS, AlmaLinux, or Oracle Enterprise Linux Proficiency in bash scripting and associated tools (sed, awk, etc.) Experience working in an ITIL environment Experience participating in Change Advisory Board (CAB) processes Familiarity with monitoring and alerting systems such as Zabbix Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work methodically and document processes effectively Understanding of the differences between hyperscaler environments and traditional data center operations Desirable Skills and Experience: RedHat certification or other relevant Linux certifications Experience with automation tools Knowledge of networking concepts in a data center environment Experience working with physical server hardware and remote data centers Understanding of security best practices for Linux systems What success looks like: A successful candidate will quickly integrate into the existing team structure, take ownership of assigned projects, deliver high-quality technical work, and maintain clear documentation. They will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the operational differences between hyperscaler environments and private data center infrastructure.
