Are you a service user of Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s services or do you live within one of our communities?
Would you like to have a voice in how services are designed and delivered in your area?
Do you have an interest in making services safer for patients?
We Are Looking For
* People with a genuine interest in improving patient safety & promoting a positive patient experience of health services in their local community.
* People from all ethnicities including minority groups, those from BAME and people who have learning disabilities, sensory impairments who would like to be involved. You will be fully supported with your needs to enable you to contribute fully to this role.
* People who want to help others and feel that the service user/patients’ voice should be valued by those providing health and care services.
As part of the NHS Patient Safety Strategy (2019), we are looking to recruit Patient Safety Partners who will be vital to taking patient safety improvement initiatives forward. You will have the opportunity to work on team projects both within inpatient areas and in the community as well as representing the ‘patients’ voice’ at senior meetings with the support from the Lead Patient Safety Specialist.
The Patient Safety Partner is an inclusive role that is aimed at giving patients from all communities across the CWP footprint a voice, especially those who themselves have health inequalities and may have struggled to be heard in the past.
The role will primarily be to promote the perspective and involvement of patients in the co-design, co-delivery and evaluation of the safety of services that CWP delivers to the population we serve. This unique role puts you in a position to influence and improve the governance and leadership of patient safety, as well as encouraging us to embrace engagement, empowerment and inclusion with the population we serve within local communities. Your work will include membership of our clinical practice and standards sub-committee and our quality committee, where you will work in partnership with us to review and analyse patient safety data to inform patient safety improvement projects & initiatives. Moving forward, you will be involved in staff training around patient safety. There will be opportunities for each of the Patient Safety Partners to experience working with all of CWP's four Care Groups: Neighbourhood; Specialist Mental Health; Children and Young People; and Learning Disability, Neuro-Developmental and Acute Brain Injury. We're keen to receive applications from those people who have experience of and an interest in the work of any of these care groups. Working alongside our staff and service users to ensure that the patients' perspective is considered throughout all of our frontline services is the essence of this role.
Cheshire and Wirral Partnership (CWP) provides health and care services for a population of over one million people, including mental health, learning disability, community physical health and all-age disability care, as well as the provision of three GP surgeries in Cheshire.
We employ around 4,500 staff across 73 sites and have services across Wirral and Cheshire, as well as Trafford, Warrington, Bolton, Halton and Liverpool. We also provide specialist services for the North West as a whole.
Our aim is to help improve the lives of everyone in our communities, adopting a compassionate, person-centred approach to everything we do. We are rated as Outstanding for Caring by the Care Quality Commission, with a Good rating overall.
As a Disability Confident Employer, Rainbow Badge Scheme member, Veteran Aware organisation and proud holder of the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award, CWP is committed to making our recruitment practices as inclusive as possible and developing a culture that values differences, and welcome applications from people who have direct experience of accessing our services.
We also offer up to three weeks’ induction, with our Prepare to Care programme for all new starters. This aims to give you all the knowledge and guidance to help you hit the ground running with CWP.
Whether you are just starting out in your career or looking to use your existing skills and experience in a new role, you’ll find something to suit you at CWP.
