Job summary
The role will be required to provide efficient and effective administrative/typist duties to Consultants and other medical/clinical staff within the Cardiology Department at Yeovil District post requires flexibility and the ability to provide a wide range of administrative and typist duties as the services develop.
Main duties of the job
Deal with day-to-day correspondence, initiating appropriate responses to provide patients, staff and other parties with required information in a friendly and professional manner.Receive telephone calls, accepting messages on behalf of members of the specialty teams, taking appropriate action where with appropriate personnel in the team to gather and co-ordinate patient information so this is accessible in a timely all forms of clinical correspondence as dictated by clinical staff, by use of audio or copy typing. Produce copies for appropriate agencies, filing copies in correct sequence, ensuring follow-up arrangements are in place, listing outstanding investigations on the hospital database system.Process urgent referrals and arrange appropriate outpatient appointments.Participate in team and Trust meetings as requested.

Qualifications
Essential
1. RSA stage ll or equivalent qualification in typing.
2. Audio typing RSA stage ll or equivalent.
3. Good general education to GCSE standard including English Language and Mathematics.
Experience

4. Proven competencies in current office practice.
5. Competent IT skills.
6. Use of emails and electronic diaries.
Desirable
7. Previous NHS experience.
8. Knowledge of medical terminology.
9. Experience of working in an office environment.
