Applications are invited for the role of Medical Education Administrator at Darent Valley Hospital. The post holder will fulfil a key administration role in supporting the Medical Education Department in the delivery of high quality education and support to the doctors within Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust. Candidates should have a knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, have experience of diary management and good written and verbal communication skills, which will be tested at interview. The ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision, maintaining attention to detail is required.
Working as an integral member of the Medical Education Team, the post holder will assist with provide daily support to the Education Team, they will take responsibility for the reception duties and be the first point of contact for all visitors.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide a full secretarial service to the Director of Medical Education and provide support to the wider Medical Education Department including Clinical Tutor, Medical Education Manager and the wider Medical Education Team.
Job responsibilities
Working as part of the Medical Education Department, the Medical Education Administrator will be the point of contact within the Department for visitors including Medical Students and Permanent and Non-Permanent Medical Staff. Providing a courteous and efficient service to all internal and external colleagues and visitors.
Respecting the confidential and sensitive nature of some communications, the post holder will maintain a professional approach when dealing with queries and requests.
Main Secretarial and Administrative Responsibilities:
1. Provide an efficient, comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Director of Medical Education and the Medical Education Team.
2. Responsible for the ordering of goods and equipment as requested.
3. Manage study leave applications, including the processing of requests, seeking approval and calculating funds for submission of requests to the Finance Department.
4. Organise and book educational courses, liaising with external companies to secure dates and finalise programmes.
5. Making, amending and co-ordinating room bookings.
Person Specification
Education and Training
* GCSEs at Grade C or above in English and Mathematics.
* NVQ Level 3 and / or RSA Level 3 typing or equivalent experience.
* Administration or secretarial qualification.
* IT qualification such as ECDL.
Knowledge and Skills
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
* Ability to plan work and multi-task.
* Advanced IT skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
* Minute taking skills.
* Ability to plan and prioritise own workload.
* Proven record of strong organisational skills including multi-tasking.
* Excellent diary management skills.
* Proven ability to interpret data/information and produce briefing papers relating to the outcomes.
* Ability to use AV equipment and understand other clinical equipment within the centre when assisting with teaching sessions.
* Ability to produce reports from data gathered on projects.
Experience
* Previous secretarial experience.
* Proven experience of events and/or meeting coordinating.
* Previous NHS secretarial experience.
