Technical Assistant & Technical Administrator
Mash Direct is an award-winning producer of gluten-free mash and vegetable convenience products, retailed throughout the UK and Ireland. Based on a working farm just outside Comber, our team is dedicated to delivering top-quality produce to homes and stores across the country.
We are currently recruiting for two new positions within our growing Technical team:
– Technical Assistant
– Technical Administrator
The Role
We are seeking a highly organised Technical Administrator and an experienced Technical Assistant to join our Technical team. Both roles require a strong understanding of HACCP, SOPs, GMPs and food safety, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with various departments including Production.
Applicants should have previous experience in a technical role and be confident in reporting and maintaining accurate records for internal and external audit compliance. Both roles will act as controllers on the safety and quality of Mash Direct products before distribution to the consumer market. Candidates must be qualified, self-motivated, hardworking, meticulous in detail, and possess excellent communication skills with previous food handling and/or quality/technical experience.
A degree-level qualification in food, drinks, or agri-business is desirable but not essential — full training will be provided.
What you will be doing:
* Carrying out a regular programme of audits (e.g., daily, weekly, monthly)
* Raising non-conformances in the quality process from intake to dispatch, ensuring all precautions are taken to avoid contamination
* Overseeing label printing processes for accuracy of shelf life and traceability
* Conducting food safety and QC inspections on raw materials at intake and key process points
* Performing spot checks on weight control to ensure levels are within tolerance
* Supporting the production team to ensure correct recording and compliance with food safety procedures
* Assisting with the creation of new products
* Facilitating regulatory (BRC, EHO) and customer visits to the factory
* Adhering to health and safety requirements within the company (PPE)
* Conducting organoleptic testing on the factory floor
* Ensuring timely and complete food safety and quality record-keeping
