We are currently looking for an experienced and passionate Assistant Curator to join our team on a full or part-time basis.
As the hub of learning at Celtic Harmony Camp, the Prehistory Centre is an indoor space with a Stone to Iron Age exhibition and reconstruction of a Palaeolithic Cave.
We are looking for a curatorial assistant to develop events and exhibitions in the Prehistory Centre, through partnerships with museums and other cultural organisations. Installations will showcase artefacts and art, creating themes inspired by our natural and cultural heritage. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the planning and delivery of engaging exhibitions that explore cultural themes and create a sense of discovery. The role will include fundraising for exhibitions and engagement programmes including researching, identifying, and bid writing for trusts and lottery.
As Curatorial Assistant, you will work closely with the CEO, contributing to all aspects of exhibition planning and delivery. From the development of exhibitions to liaising with artists, lenders, and the education and marketing team, you’ll ensure exhibitions run smoothly on time and within budget. You will also play a key role in organising public talks and overseeing the creation of exhibition guides. Your expertise and organisational skills will ensure exhibitions both challenge and engage our visitors. The role involves the recruitment and retention of volunteer tour guides and includes working weekends and some evenings to facilitate centre opening and events.

This job could be for you if you have:
* Minimum 2 years experience working in a museum/exhibition environment with collections, handling, and moving experience.
* Educated to degree level in a relevant subject desirable.
* Experience of working with and assisting volunteers
* Awareness of grants and fundraising
* Creative Passion: a genuine interest in Prehistory and the natural world and its presentation to the public.
* Communication skills to collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
* Organisational Skills: Able to demonstrate effective prioritising skills and a methodical approach while applying strong attention to detail.
* IT Proficiency: Experience with Mac, Google Drive, and Photoshop.
* Collaborative Spirit: A flexible, positive attitude and the ability to work well in a team environment.
* Experience in fundraising
* Your own transport, Celtic Harmony Camp is a rural site.
Location: Celtic Harmony Camp, Brickendon Lane, Hertfordshire SG13 8NY.
Remuneration: £27,000 gross per annum.
Start Date: We are assessing candidates on a rolling process and encourage you to apply ASAP.
