Auckland Medical Group are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Treatment Room Nurse.
To provide and maintain a high professional standard of nursing care in adherence to all Practice policies/protocols as well as providing nursing assistance to the GP's and other members of the primary healthcare team.
The role of the nurse needs to be flexible. They must work within their own level of competency and expand their role in accordance with practice requirements.
The post is for 24 - 32 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
To assist and perform routine nursing tasks related to patient care as directed and agreed with Lead Practice Nurse and GPs. To provide essential Treatment duties such as BP checks, NHS Healthchecks, prescribed injections, BMI and lifestyle advice. To provide holistic assessment of wounds and implement wound care in line with current evidence-based guidelines. Offer advice about childhood and adult immunisations and ensure vaccines/injections are administrated under patient group directives or individual prescription. To undertake the collection of pathological & microbiology specimens including venepuncture, swabs, urine culture in line with local guidelines. Perform a holistic assessment of patients attending for relevant investigatory procedures such as cervical cytology, ECG, following training and in line with local guidelines. To undertake suture and clip removal. To provide general health promotion education.

Job responsibilities
* Identifying significant abnormalities using a holistic approach to history taking and observation and assessment of physical systems.
* Diagnosis, monitoring and development of individual management plans; agreeing these as appropriate with the patient and other health professionals.
* Understand the aims of management and the pharmacological treatments for chronic diseases.
* Initiate, perform and interpret diagnostic procedures as appropriate for chronic disease management.
* Support recall procedures, appropriate literature and health promotion, and audit.
Management of Medicines
* Diagnose and manage both acute and chronic conditions, integrating both drug- and nondrug-based treatment methods into a management plan.
* Prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and practice protocols, and within scope of practice.
* Provide information and advice on prescribed or over-the-counter medication, medication regimes, side-effects and interactions.
* Work with patients in order to support compliance with, and adherence to, prescribed treatments.
