Job Description
A well-established GTA homebuilder that develops low, mid, and high-rise residential real estate is looking for a Corporate Accountant to join a dynamic team environment. The company has been experiencing a high level of growth and seeking an individual with a drive to achieve excellence within. Reporting to the Controller and VP Finance, the Corporate Accountant will play a key role in providing reliable, timely, and efficient support and reporting for corporate entities. The position entails preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and providing meaningful analysis.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversee the full accounting cycle for all corporate entities.
2. Perform monthly fee billings, chargebacks from related entities, and collections.
3. Monthly inter company reconciliation is tied to corporate and project entities.
4. Prepare bank reconciliation and HST filings (monthly, quarterly, annual).
5. Liaise with the internal operation and sales transaction team, external auditors, and financial institutions.
6. Prepare and maintain PP&A schedules and corporate leasing agreements.
7. Cash management for corporate entities including cash-flow analysis.
8. Maintain monthly/quarterly review of the Shareholder's Loan.
9. Prepare internal and external partner reporting for each corporate entity including support for GL balances where needed.
10. Assist in monthly/quarterly compliance reporting to lenders, government (incl T5018), and partners.
11. Identify and implement process re-engineering opportunities.
12. Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (IFRS and ASPE), internal audit and client accounting services and internal review standards.
13. Invoice processing and review AP aging for all corporate entities.
14. Perform ad-hoc tasks as necessary.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (preferred).
2. 3-5 years of accounting experience, within a real estate company experience preferred.
3. Ability to multi-task, adapt to and operate in a fast-paced, changing environment.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
5. Must operate with a sense of urgency and respond to stakeholders.
6. Must be able to maintain confidentiality, utilize judgment, and work with minimal supervision.
7. Must be detail oriented with strong analytical skills.
8. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet applications required; experience with real estate accounting software a plus (JDE, NEWSTAR, YARDI).
Benefits:
Base salary is $90,000 to $105,000 based on experience plus bonus.
