Role Overview:
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Barking & Dagenham
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-Time / Permanent
Salary: £102 - £115 per day (Dependent on experience)
About You:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and patient SEN Teaching Assistant who:
1. Has experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and associated learning needs.
2. Is confident in supporting students with communication challenges, sensory needs, and behaviour management.
3. Can build positive relationships with students, helping them feel secure and engaged in learning.
4. Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
5. Has a proactive and adaptable approach to meeting the needs of students in a specialist setting.
Your Responsibilities:
1. Support students in developing independence and life skills alongside academic learning.
2. Implement alternative communication methods such as PECS and Makaton to support non-verbal students.
3. Assist in sensory regulation activities to help students manage their emotions and behaviours.
4. Encourage social interaction and engagement through structured play and group activities.
5. Provide a safe, calm, and nurturing environment where students feel supported in their development.
