As our Support Worker, you’ll be at the heart of supporting our customers who have complex mental health and may also have a substance misuse issue and/or a mild learning disability. You’ll help develop their skills to live more independently in the community. You’ll make a big difference each day as you help our customers achieve their hopes and aspirations. Amazing we know!
Typical day as our Support Worker
Starting the day with a cuppa and handover from colleagues, catching up on any changes since you were last on shift and the tasks/ support planned for the day ahead.
You will assist customers with support needs like cleaning, paying bills, attending activities and appointments. You'll also help them develop daily living skills like meal preparation, shopping, budgeting, maintaining their tenancy and transitioning to independent living.
Organize activities like an in-house cooking group, BBQ, or a trip to Felixstowe for fish and chips. Also, support customers during distress and stay resilient.
Assisting with risk assessments, support planning, goal setting, and conducting regular reviews. Participating in the upkeep of the property, reporting necessary repairs, and adhering to health and safety requirements.
Cuppas, chats and catch ups. There’s no rushing from one customer to the next here! Plenty of time to work together with colleagues too.

You bring
Passion to support our customers to live their best life, working together as a team with an eye for detail
Experience of supporting others, you may have worked in Supporting/ housing environment before or have experience of supporting others such as family members who have experience Mental health issues
The ability to work on your own initiative, remain calm under pressure and have a resilient approach
Recognise every customer is different and you’re able to adopt a flexible, personal approach, listening to customers to understand their needs
Have a Positive attitude with a solution focused approach
Able to use technology to update support plans, complete online learning and to collaborate with colleagues.

You'll join Manager Elle and the Ipswich Cluster team. We take pride in our effective collaboration, especially during tough times for customers. Our team is supportive, and we love lunches together. There’s nothing like a Greggs Sausage Roll!
Job details
Where we’re flexible with you, we do need to meet the needs of our customers. That may mean adapting your start or finishing times on occasion.
The work pattern operates on a 4-week rolling rota, which includes scheduled sleep-ins, weekends, and bank holidays. Shifts typically run from 9 AM to 6 PM, 2 PM to 11 PM, and sleep-in shifts from 7 PM to 3 AM.
Sleep in £50 per shift in addition to contracted hours
Although you may work alone at times, colleagues are often on shift or available in nearby services, and there is an out-of-hours on-call service for emergencies if you need help.
You’ll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.
