Wincanton are excited to share an opportunity within our Group Transport sector based in Thrapston for a Health and Safety Manager with responsibility for multiple sites across the UK.
The role will develop and implement an effective Health and Safety strategy in compliance with the group SHEQ policies across the Primark contract, working closely with the wider Wincanton business.
How will you contribute?
* Responsible for the development and implementation of an effective Health, Safety and Environmental Strategy across the Primark contract.
* In close liaison with line management and the customer, you will build and ensure an excellent record of maintaining a positive Health & Safety culture.
* Work closely with managers and other accountable personnel to develop their skills to ensure a sufficient level of Health & Safety competence and compliance.
* Ensure that consistent and effective levels of Health & Safety communication are achieved within the contract.
* Ensure the implementation and compliance with Group SHEQ policies. (Safety, Health, Environmental, Quality).
* Ensure period & QBR (Quarterly Business review) slides are completed in time and have all the correct levels of detail.
* Ensure the site management teams conduct regular safety tours thereby demonstrating an active commitment to safety.
* Ensure the site management teams conduct Health & Safety Induction training for all Wincanton employees and agency personnel.
* To co-ordinate SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental, Quality) reporting within the contract.
* To review and manage the quality of investigations to ensure all are fully investigated and remedial actions are tracked and performed in a timely manner.
* To attend and advise at Health & Safety group meetings, whilst encouraging and supporting the safety action teams.
* To organize and schedule monthly meetings with the on-site management team and Health and Safety representatives.
* Assist and be part of management unobtrusive checks at the customers retail stores and network sites.
* Liaise and ensure any escalations have the involvement of the business unit Health and Safety Manager.
* To champion and track the loading standards on the contract and liaise with the customers Operational Managers, and Health and Safety Manager.
* Manage the contracts Risk assessments / SSOW ensuring they are reviewed and updated so we remain compliant within the contract.
* To keep abreast of corporate, regulatory, and legislative changes to ensure the contract complies with all current relevant legislation.
* To make the best use of Wincanton HSE systems such as `Webrisk` & 'EcoOnline`.
* To ensure that the contract understands and meets the requirements for corporate and customer audits.
* Continue the development and implementation of the Behavioural Safety Strategy.
What will you bring?
* PC literate (Microsoft Word and Excel, email)
* Qualified to NEBOSH general certificate
* Relevant experience of managing HSSEQ, preferably, within a similar 3PL / logistics environment
* Will have the leadership and influencing skills to drive a culture of continuous improvement using a collaborative and hands on approach
* Ability to translate legislation into everyday language
* Will have effective presentation and training skills
* Excellent communication skills using a variety of formats in an effective manner.
* Excellent customer facing skills, whilst working within a team and developing productive working relationships.
* Competent administration and IT skills EcoOnline reporting.
* Ability to demonstrate operational and Health & Safety confidence to the customer always.
* Possess the interpersonal skills, integrity, and commercial awareness to maintain excellent working relationships at all levels.
* Ability to work well under pressure whilst demonstrating strong organisational skills.
* Ability to demonstrate strong decision-making skills based on a mixture of analysis and experience.
* Enthusiastic and self-disciplined with a proactive approach to work.
* Experience of environmental and quality management would be preferable.
* Experience within retail would be advantageous.
* A full, valid UK driving licence with the preparation to travel to other sites and retail stores.
