Are you passionate about improving the life opportunities for children and young people in care? Are you a team player with a ‘can do’ attitude and the confidence to be a strong advocate?
The Virtual School champions the education of children in Sefton’s care. We are part of the Education Excellence directorate, and we believe that every child has strengths, talent and aspiration, and has the right to a high-quality education. An opportunity has arisen to join our committed and creative team as an Education Coordinator.
Working as an Education Coordinator, some of your responsibilities will include:
* Ensuring that each young person has a robust personal Education Plan (PEP) that enables them to be happy, heard and to achieve.
* Forming excellent relationships with children, schools, colleges, carers, social workers and other service providers to provide guidance, challenge and support to ensure a cohesive and aspirational approach to supporting the education of Cared For Children.
* Prompt intervention when difficulties arise to ensure that each child has the support they need to stay on track and thrive.
* Quality assurance of the PEP to ensure that targets are clear, SMART, evidence-based and aspirational, and that the young person is supported and challenged to make excellent progress.
This is a rare opportunity to join a positive, supportive and forward-thinking team that is committed to ensuring that the children we care for thrive in education. A secondment could be considered with the approval of your current employer.
Are you the passionate, aspirational team member that we are looking for, with the skills and knowledge needed to make a positive difference to the educational experience and outcomes of children in care?
