Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic pharmacist to lead our well established critical care pharmacy team. The postholder will lead the critical care pharmacy team, providing clinical pharmacy services to our critical care areas. You will ideally be a current band 8a pharmacist with experience of working on critical care areas, who is ready to take the next step and lead a team.This role will allow you to lead and develop the pharmacy critical care team in a busy DGH. You will be part of a dynamic and supportive team providing a high level of care. After several years of ever closer working, North Mid and Royal Free London are planning to come together as one organisation to enable them to go further and faster in improving services for patients and the health of the local community than they can achieve separately. The merger of North Mid into the RFL group is currently expected to take place on 1 January 2025, subject to NHS England and Secretary of State approval. Main duties of the job Managing a team of pharmacists and pharmacy technician, ensuring consistent delivery of clinical pharmacy services to critical care areas. Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds delivering and promoting high quality, cost effective and patient focused care. Monitoring drug expenditure and forecasting new drug developments within the specialty. To work closely with the band 8a critical care and formulary pharmacist to ensure the smooth running of the business arrangements of the monthly medicines management committee. Developing and implementing policies and guidelines. Delivery of teaching and training sessions to pharmacy, nursing and medical staff. Develop and maintain highly specialist knowledge in medicines used within critical care.
