Controls Engineer Position
This Controls Engineer position could easily be two roles; one for someone who has gained at least a year’s work experience within a related area of electrical engineering and another for someone with a HNC or ideally a degree.
In both cases, you will be joining a company that specializes in the creation of highly energy-efficient buildings that are focused on agriculture, research, and by people with a particular interest in horticulture. You will be trained in all aspects of:
1. Working to the brief
2. Producing a design
3. Being part of the installation team
4. Commissioning
What makes this position particularly interesting is that you will remain involved with the projects beyond the commissioning as the company looks after servicing, maintenance, and emergency repairs on an ongoing basis. This will give you a unique insight into the life of the systems that you work with and you will have an enviable knowledge of not just the controls, but the buildings as a whole.
You will need to have either:
1. A degree, or
2. Completed an apprenticeship with a recognized electrical/electronics/controls course.
In either case, you must be happy to work on the tools and progress into the design office. You will also need to have work experience within controls, whether on the design, installation, commissioning, or maintenance side of controls work.
The great thing about this post is that both positions will be eligible to join the company’s on-call rota that will provide an on-call allowance in return for being available for the week to assist clients with out-of-hours difficulties, the majority of which can be resolved on the phone or by dialing into the system.
The package with the role includes:
1. 25 days leave plus stats
2. Full training and support to help you develop in the role
3. Pension
4. Company vehicle/allowance (once you have joined the on-call rota)
You will need to be located in the immediate Yorkshire area or within an easy commute of it. Similarly, a driving license is essential. The salary range for the post is up to £42k depending upon your level of qualifications and experience.
