The Water Resources and Hydrogeology Team is a technical advisory team to the business. The team is responsible for and the candidate will be involved in the following:
1. Providing technical support on regulatory aspects of Abstraction Licences; for this role you will be liaising externally with the Environment Agency on matters related to abstractions returns, site inspections and WINEP Investigations. Internally you will help provide support to the business around licence interpretation.
2. Engage with colleagues across the Asset Strategy and Capital Delivery directorate and also with operational teams regarding borehole/well pumping performance, optimisations and supply/demand balance.
3. Contribute towards the technical inputs of strategic plans including our Drought Management Plan, and also help with on-going water resources assessments and reporting.
4. Help work on and ensure delivery of our Abstraction Impact Assessment WINEP programme in AMP8 by supporting the programme manager with project management and liaison with our framework consultants. This will include supporting the team with cost reports and change requests, as well as ensuring the projects are delivered on budget/time.
5. Undertake fieldwork (including responsibility for establishing monitoring networks) and office based analysis to contribute towards WINEP investigations. Review and QA monitoring data and ensure it is uploaded to our data management system.
6. Internal and external presentations to a range of stakeholders following analysis.
Requirements:
1. Qualified to BSc level (or equivalent) in a scientific discipline, with practical knowledge in hydrogeology/hydrology/aquatic ecology.
2. Project Management qualification.
3. Highly motivated self-starter, able to work on their own as well as part of a team.
4. Awareness of health and safety procedures.
5. Awareness of water quality and environmental standards.
6. Good report writing skills with the ability to self-check and to produce high quality and accurate work.
7. Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook and GIS applications.
8. Willingness to undertake field work.
9. Full, clean driving licence.
