Applications are open for a Building Service Technician in the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute, based in the Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre - a state-of-the-art research building located on the Biomedical Campus which opened in 2019 and houses up to 900 staff and three different Departments/Institutes.
An exciting opportunity to join the Building Service Team to help the functioning of the building and support the research groups within. As a Service Technician you will be a key part of the Building Services Team, working together to provide an outstanding service for the building. Within this role, you will have a wide range of responsibilities which include, but are not limited to:
1. Distribution and collection of goods and parcels;
2. Minor maintenance such as replacing lamps;
3. Transport of hazardous waste from labs to collection points;
4. Glasswash and autoclaving where necessary;
5. Filling liquid nitrogen vessels and changing gas cylinders.
The successful candidate will have to demonstrate:
1. Good organizational and prioritization skills;
2. Good levels of communication and interpersonal skills;
3. Knowledge of laboratory environments (including use of liquid nitrogen and hazards related to this and similar gases);
4. Basic knowledge of IT.
Previous experience in a similar role, and with carrying out minor maintenance tasks, are also required.
