Full time, 38.5 hours a week. Working 9.30pm to 8.30am, on a four nights on, four nights off rota pattern. Wokingham Young People Services provides 24/7 support for up to seven young people aged 16-21 care leavers and looked after children. Our aim is to support to young people with their individual needs to enable them to gain life skills to move on to lower or independent supported living. This is a fast paced, energetic service. If you are looking for an exciting role, where you’ll be making a difference in the lives of those you support, then this is the role for you Main Responsibilities Help to maintain a welcoming, safe environment, identifying and minimising all potential risks to all our young people, visitors to the service and the building You will provide informal support to young people and be a listening ear You will respond to telephone calls and visits by external staff Ensure our young people are kept safe, working within our organisational and the local authorities safeguarding procedures You will manage young people and visitors in the immediate external areas and any associated safety issues You will deal with any incidents that may arise and contact external services when necessary You will provide detailed handovers to day staff, regarding young people’s safety and support information You will carry out light cleaning tasks when required You will manage any building issues/maintenance as per the relevant procedure Complete internal and external health & safety checks and ensure information is recorded accurately on internal systems in accordance with Health and Safety regulations You will triage out of hours issues which may arise in service and contact the on-call manager where applicable Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Essential Qualifications/Training Previous experience in this type of work is not essential but you will have a real passion for wanting to work with homeless people and those with related complex mental health issues.
