The successful candidate will provide night management and senior clinical and
operational leadership across the required boroughs in the appropriate Division
providing support to the older peoples, adult and specialist services including
oversight of the S136 suite and Safe Haven.
They will be required be an autonomous clinical and managerial lead for all of the
inpatient wards (adult and older peoples) and acute crisis services across the
relevant footprint.
There is an expectation that the post holder will travel across the relevant footprint in
a planned and ad hoc manner ensuring equity in support and consistent approaches
across all wards / services.
The night manager will provide the most senior cover and leadership to the boroughs
out of hours operating with significant autonomy. They will be responsible for
ensuring resourcing and safe nursing across the division out of hours. They will be
the senior level of management present in the division prior to contacting the senior
manager on call and therefore responsible for the safe management of the
governance agenda in line with Trust, NMC & CQC standards.
The provision of effective clinical leadership to and management of ward staff
including undertaking supervision and IPDRs.
The night manager will develop communications with their peers in the other
boroughs and the acute trust sites
Undertake a handover to and from the bed management team
Support senior ward staff in the event of incidents of any nature.
Support in the mobilisation of business continuity plans

Respond appropriately to major incidents
Provide constructive challenge through gatekeeping admissions
Provide oversight and leadership of the safe havens
Provide clinical supervision to an agreed number of ward staff to be agreed with
the ward managers and inpatient service managers
Maintain an accurate bed state and coordinate admissions including the
management of mixed sex accommodation supporting the recording and
reporting of breaches.
Make the clinical judgement with regards to admitting to a gender inappropriate
bed ensuring robust risk management and care plans are mobilised to manage
the breach. This will include consideration of appropriately moving patients to
prevent a reach.
