Location: Fenton
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm and 8am - 4pm on Fridays
Salary: From £23,000 per annum (negotiable dependent on experience - up to £50,000 per annum)
The Role
Our client is recognised for delivering exceptional projects with a commitment to quality. They are dedicated to fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment and are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join their team as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor. This role offers the opportunity for growth into a full Quantity Surveyor position. They are also open to considering candidates with previous experience for the Quantity Surveyor role.
Our client will deliver full training for this role if necessary. The duties below are what is expected of a fully trained Quantity Surveyor, after complete training has been provided:
Main Duties
1. Set up project files and transfer project templates upon award of new jobs
2. Produce monthly valuations and payment applications, ensuring all variations are recorded
3. Review subcontractor invoices and applications, certifying payments via CIS Manager
4. Price variations by requesting quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, with support from the Procurement Team
5. Control the variation instruction process (VO) and track changes to the scope of works
6. Add variations to the application spreadsheet and follow up weekly for progress
7. Produce monthly cash flow forecasts based on site progress
8. Prepare monthly cost reports for Directors, comparing applied costs to actual sales and highlighting anomalies
9. Ensure invoices are recorded into the CIS Management system for subcontract orders and valuations
10. Review commercial information for projects, ensuring adherence to budgets
11. Assess subcontractors for new projects based on location, price, expertise, and team size
12. Attend subcontractor pre-start meetings and ensure all legal documentation is signed and updated
13. Review orders to ensure all details are accurate and account for scope
14. Participate in internal handover meetings for new projects, discussing scope, costs, and actions
15. Assess and submit subcontractor applications in line with valuation dates, ensuring accuracy of claims
16. Update CIS Manager with buying budgets in coordination with the buyer
17. Assist the Scheduling and Buying Team with procurement and take-off for contracts and variations
18. Attend site to agree on variations and manage the account as the project progresses
19. Identify and address differences between applied and certified accounts
20. Help develop procurement strategies, ensuring all subcontractor order details are met
