The post is accountable to the IPAC Matron for the day-to-day IP&C management across NCHC and to an on-going improvement in the quality of the patient's experience.
The post holder has a responsibility to monitor and act upon standards of Infection Prevention & Control that fall below the acceptable standard and legislative responsibilities.
This position is involved in ensuring Trust complies with its legislative and licensing requirements, i.e. The Health and Social Care Act 2008, and for the provision of specialist advice and guidance for all health care professionals and support staff across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
To act as a subject matter expert (SME) demonstrating advanced knowledge and skill beyond that associated with traditional nursing roles, including the integration of research evidence into practice by expert clinical reasoning and decision making.
As an acknowledged expert in the provision of patient management in relation to Infection Prevention & Control the post holder will, where required, make independent clinical decisions, initiate investigations, be responsible for advising on the management of defined group/groups of patients.
