Senior Enterprise and Translation Manager
The mission of the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology (ION) is to translate neuroscience discovery research into treatments for patients with neurological diseases. We are a leading translational neuroscience centre based within the Faculty of Brain Sciences at UCL, and closely associated with the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery (NHNN), University College London Hospitals' NHS Foundation Trust.
The ION Head Office, led by the Institute Manager, is part of the Institute’s Professional Services team. It provides local professional support services for all operational aspects of the Institute, including HR, Finance, Research, Education, Library, Web Development and Communications, Laboratory Operations, Health & Safety, and Events functions. The team works in close liaison with, and observes the requirements of, its corresponding teams within the Faculty and central UCL.
About the role
The Senior Enterprise and Translation Manager supports the Institute’s Deputy Director for Translation, Advanced Therapies and Enterprise, to promote translation and exploitation of research for the ultimate benefit of patients and society. You will identify opportunities for investigators to collaborate with industry, and help ensure that intellectual property is protected, fostering an environment that maximises awareness of educational and other opportunities to apply research to clinical and societal needs, in close collaboration with the UCL Translational Research Office, UCL Business, and the UCL Research Contracts team.
This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 40% of time on site.
About you
You’ll be educated to postgraduate level (or have equivalent professional experience) with experience of initiating and leading project and partnership activity, project management, and significant experience of translational science and evidence of successful progression of projects along a translational pathway gained in industry, biotech, and/or academia. Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are also essential for this role.
This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.
What we offer
Appointment at Grade 9 is dependent upon having extensive experience of translational science and successful progression of projects and demonstrating competency against the UCL Ways of Working as outlined in the person specification; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Grade 8 (salary £52,487 - £61,534 per annum).
