About the role
Do you want to be at the forefront of one of the world’s most ambitious sustainability initiatives?
Balfour Beatty has created iconic buildings and infrastructure all over the world over the past 115 years, redefining excellence and setting the industry benchmark with every project.
As a result, alongside several consortium partners, Balfour Beatty has been selected by BP (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage, which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Commercial Manager to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside project based at our new site in Redcar-in-Cleveland on Teesside.
What you’ll be doing
As a Commercial Manager, you will be accountable for the following activities:
* You will be an integral part of the project delivery team where you will hold key responsibilities associated with leading the commercial and financial success of each project.
* You will be responsible for the financial management and commercial delivery of a project from inception, tendering to negotiating and agreeing contracts.
* Your role is broad and includes anything from risk management to procurement, contract management, financial reporting, and managing the supply chain.
* Working on MEP installations within major infrastructure.
Who we’re looking for
The following qualities/experience are essential:
* A track record of managing and developing a commercial team.
* Be a Chartered Member of the RICS, ICES, or CIOB, and a mentor/role model to other commercial staff on their journey to becoming professionally qualified.
* Maintain your Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
* Ability to gain a high-level security clearance.

* Smart working, giving you more flexibility such as staggered start and finish times, with up to 40% remote working, where roles allow.
* 25 days paid annual leave (pro rata).
* Family-friendly policies which include 28 weeks full pay for maternity/adoption leave and four weeks full pay for paternity/partners leave.
* Pension, share incentive plan, volunteering leave, recognition schemes, and much more.
