An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the data driven compliance framework at Franklin Templeton. Compliance Function at Franklin Templeton Franklin Templeton’s Global Compliance team has more than 100 compliance professionals located in in various countries worldwide. The Global Compliance team is split into teams that focus on the compliance frameworks for regulated entities and these teams are supported by other specialist compliance teams that are typically established as centres of excellence for example Code of Ethics, Investment Compliance, Marketing Compliance, Financial Crime, Compliance Monitoring. This role sits within the EMEA Compliance function and reports directly to the Head of EMEA Compliance. Investment firms have a range of regulatory reporting requirements, and the data is used by regulators to assess risk across firms and the market. Clients are also increasingly focused on analysing data sets within product related regulatory reports. Technological advancements mean that data can be reviewed and points of interest or potential risk more easily identified. Within the Compliance function, our aim is to build out our data science skill sets to future proof our compliance program and get ahead of potential areas of regulatory risk. What are the ongoing responsibilities of Global Compliance Director - Data? The role will involve the following activities: Work with internal business stakeholders (eg across operations and IT) to identify appropriate data sets Analyse data sets and generate statistical information to identify trends and areas that may warrant further review by the compliance function Develop and implement compliance monitoring programs using data analytics tools. Analyse data sets to identify higher risk data points across the regulatory reporting framework, for example, data points within regulatory reporting that are a focus for regulators, and data points within client facing regulatory reporting that are a focus for clients Generate detailed compliance reports and dashboards for senior management and regulatory bodies Collaborating with legal and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements associated with technology related topics including AI Work with technology teams to plan necessary development work Advise the Head of EMEA Compliance on how to develop data science skill sets of team members. The role may involve the management of a small team of dedicated Compliance staff. A wider network of other Global Compliance teams support the regulated entities via service agreements. What qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful? 10 years of relevant experience, preferably at a large financial institution or regulator. Ability to collect, process, and interpret large and complex data sets using various tools and methods Working knowledge of data analytics tools such as: Power BI, Python, SQL, Excel Creativity to be able to explore new ways of finding patterns and solutions in the data and presenting them in a clear and compelling way Teamwork skills to be able to collaborate with other compliance professionals, data scientists, and business stakeholders on cross-functional projects Programming experience or experience of working with programmers to write, test, and debug code using languages such as Python, R, SQL, or Scala Machine learning experience to be able to apply appropriate algorithms and models to solve business problems and generate insights You may have statistical skills to be able to apply mathematical and statistical concepts and techniques to data analysis and interpretation Attention to detail to be able to identify potential compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate them Knowledge of regulatory requirements would be a benefit Communication skills to be able to communicate your findings to the Compliance team, senior management, and other stakeholders Risk management skills to be able to identify, assess, and mitigate potential compliance risks and issues Ability to understand and assess the regulatory risks associated investment funds, investment services, and clients. Strong communication skills both virtual and in office. Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a global program.
