About the Role:
A leading construction company specialising in complex projects within the healthcare, education, and commercial sectors is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team. With over 25 years in the industry, this company has achieved steady growth and operates with a team of 75 professionals, handling projects valued between £100,000 and £20 million. Their annual turnover is estimated between £20 million and £100 million, reflecting financial stability and an ongoing commitment to reinvestment.
Purpose of the Role:
You will manage contractual and financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring cost efficiency and successful delivery within budget parameters. This is a pivotal role in maintaining the company's profitability while meeting client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee all commercial aspects of assigned projects.
* Maintain and enhance established profit margins.
* Ensure financial control of contracts aligned with client requirements.
* Prepare and manage project budgets, valuations, and final accounts.
* Lead subcontractor tendering, orders, and cost negotiations.
* Conduct site visits and attend progress meetings.
Person Specification:
* Proven experience with main contractors operating at £20-100M turnover.
* Strong understanding of JCT and NEC contracts.
* Background in healthcare or education projects is advantageous.
* Effective time management, negotiation, and IT skills.
* Degree or equivalent qualification (preferred but not essential).
