The Import/Export Compliance Coordinator is responsible for the Import and Export regulatory compliance. The position helps to support STERIS’ import and export regulatory compliance through monitoring and maintaining the STERIS Compliance Program.
This role is hybrid- 3 days working in office and 2 days working from home
What is involved
Maintain and update the STERIS Harmonized Classification Database as required.
Classify goods with proper harmonized tariff number (HTS) for GB / EU import and export.
Procure and audit all required information via the STERIS Global Trade or manually (as needed) for participation in various Free Trade Agreements (FTA). Assist in the correct qualification for FTA duty relief.
Conduct entry audits on broker entries for GB / EU imports and export entries to enhance STERIS’ Customs compliance program. Request Post Clearance Amendments from brokers as needed.
Assist in evaluating Integration Point compliance holds for validity. Release holds determined not to be valid. 6. Maintain and update policies and procedures relating to Compliance when/where required.
Provide assistance to all STERIS Internal/External Customers to resolve issues relating to Customs or export regulations moving to or from a STERIS or STERIS supplier/vendor facility
Assist STERIS brokers with clearing shipments into GB / EU for questions such as classification, valuation, preferential treatment, etc.
Conduct analysis of country of origin and free trade qualification for STERIS manufactured items.
Provide assistance with other department and duties as required
Experience and Knowledge required
Import/Export customs experience
Associate Degree or equivalent and 1-year experience in Customs related activity OR 3 years’ experience in Customs related activity.
At least two (2) years of experience in a customer service environment
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word, as well as have competent typing capabilities.
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively and tactfully interact with customers and others at all levels of the organization and at outside agencies.
Demonstrated effective decision making, problem solving and organizational skills. 6. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
