Buyer (Food & Beverage/Drink Category) Location: Luton, Dunstable Job Type: Full-time Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum We are seeking a Buyer with expertise in the Alcohol/Food/Drink categories to join an expanding team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of customer needs, the ability to identify and source new products, and review existing ranges to ensure a commercially viable product assortment. This role is crucial in maintaining competitiveness, driving sales and profitability, and contributing to the overall commercial strategy. Day-to-day of the role: Develop and implement category plans, including range reviews, promotions, pricing, and stock management aligned with the commercial strategy and financial objectives. Collaborate with the Marketing team to create and execute marketing promotion plans and strategies relevant to the Household category. Ensure adherence to legislation and brand guidelines, effectively communicating with customers to drive footfall and profitable sales. Work with the Marketing and Online teams to deliver engaging customer stories through social media and the company website. Evaluate the effectiveness of promotions, make necessary adjustments, and share best practices. Partner with the Merchandising team to agree on a merchandising strategy that ensures the right range in the right store, availability, and control of slow-moving stock. Identify and implement new product opportunities that are competitively priced and meet customer needs. Manage and review pricing to ensure competitiveness and profitability within the company’s pricing strategy. Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to ensure accurate sales and promotional forecasts, maintaining in-store availability. Develop effective internal and external relationships to support category objectives and enhance the company’s proposition. Adopt negotiation strategies to attain the best terms for the category and the business. Continually develop expert knowledge of category products, competitors, and market activity. Manage and deliver projects as required and take responsibility for personal and professional development. Required Skills & Qualifications: Experience in Alcohol/Food/Drink categories is preferred. Commercial acumen with the ability to understand and interpret market information. Familiarity with "grey market"/Far East sourcing Strong analytical and numerical skills. Influential negotiation skills at all levels. Strong interpersonal skills and project management capabilities. Excellent attention to detail and communication skills, both written and verbal. Problem-solving ability, confidence, energy, and adaptability. Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team. Proficiency in PC and software skills.
