Lead and manage the developmentof nurse/ AHP staffing practices, strategies, and innovations in order toenhance patient care.
Lead and manage in collaborationwith the Theatre teams timely responsiveness to patient safety relatedincidents.
Support the Assistant Directorof Nursing (ADN) & DADN (Deputy Assistant Director of Nursing) in thedelivery of the nursing/AHP staffing quality agenda, ensuring local andnational quality and clinical standards initiatives are embedded into practiceacross the Division- primarily focussing on theatres.
Support the ADN & DADN inthe Trust wide strategic development of the Theatre nursing/ AHP workforce,ensuring the workforce is fit for the future to deliver safe, high quality andcost-efficient care.
Develop new nursing/ AHP rolesin collaboration with the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADN) and DeputyDirector of Nursing (DADN) to support the development of a modern nursing/ AHPtheatre work force.
Support the ADN to develop &review policies to drive safe nurse/ AHP staffing, retention, new workforcemodels and recruitment. Responsive to patient safety incidents. Support the ADN& DADN to develop & review policy and processes to drive safe nurse/AHP Ensure nursing/ AHP staff have the required skills, knowledge, andcompetency to deliver safe & effective high quality clinical care.
Main duties of the job
Work alongside Workforce and Human Resources toadvise and support in building an effective nursing/ AHP and midwiferyworkforce strategy.
Influence and lead staff to embrace change usingnegotiation and change management skills.
Analyse and present results from audits /research or from information systems to all stakeholders and support the DADN, ADNto develop new strategies and innovations to develop nursing/ AHP theatreworkforce.
Deliver a communication plan that will be wellreceived and revise as required, making recommendations where necessary.
Work with the divisional communications team toensure that staff are updated with all information pertaining to nursestaffing, and work with external agencies to share best practice and promotethe Trusts- Theatres nurse/ AHP staffing agenda.
Attend and contribute to internal and externalmeetings, ensuring any key points are raised, recommendations made, and actionstaken, complex and varied issues and information are relayed in a clear conciseway, with relevance to the audience it is being delivered to.
Ensure any changes to working practice and/orjob roles involve the necessary consultation with HR, managers, staff, andtheir representatives.
This has to be done in line with the Trustspolicies and procedures, employment law and impact on the staff.
Where resistance to change is identified, usepersuasive, influencing skills to enable change.

Job responsibilities

Bethe professional lead in an advisory capacity and through strong leadership,support to promote excellence in nursing/ AHP and midwifery care in order tomaintain and improve clinical standards and practice.
Toidentify local and national good practice in nurse/ AHP staffing, recruitment,and retention strategies, ensuring information and learning is disseminatedeffectively and proposals made for local implementation.
Tolead in challenging existing practices, ensuring progressive solutions andefficiencies, which consider models of best practice and adhering to NMCs/AHPS expectations and relevant reliable empirical evidence.
Toutilise expert critical care knowledge to ensure there is a robust andmeaningful Theatre Training and Education Strategy that meets current andfuture workforce requirements.

* Experience of safe staffing, rostering and knowledge of how budget constraints and service delivery has a clinical impact on safe staffing. Excellent knowledge and understanding of effective rostering and impact of inefficient rosters and how to drive clinical benefits from EROSTERING system. Experience in undertaking skill mix and establishment Evidence of teaching and developing staff Policy development Demonstrates change management experience Has successfully planned and managed projects which deliver benefits for patients in complex clinical environments which required clinical and non-clinical staff to modify their way of working. Qualifications
* Masters degree level qualification or equivalent experience Professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council or HCPC. Extensive experience of working with the Healthroster Suite Provide evidence of highly developed specialist knowledge in all aspects of application implementation and change management. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft desktop suite, including word, excel, PowerPoint, vision and ability to produce and deliver management information.
* Post graduate management/leadership qualification or willingness to undertake a postgraduate certificate in management/leadership Knowledge of NHS National Programme for ICT i.e. ESR PRINCE 2 (Or equivalent) Foundation or practitioner certification
