Booker Park is a member of the Vale Federation of Special Schools, together with the secondary and post-16 school Stocklake Park. With 239 pupils on roll, Booker Park caters for primary aged children with a broad diversity of complex needs including profound and multiple, severe and moderate learning difficulties. Almost half of the pupils have an additional diagnosis of an autistic spectrum condition. We are fortunate enough to have wonderful facilities including two large halls, a computer suite, hydrotherapy pool, soft play room, an observational mirror room, dark room and sensory theatre. We have purpose built outdoor spaces including a MUGA (multi use games area), climbing castle, pirate ship and sensory path which are available to all pupils. We are close to bus and train links and on-site parking is available for all staff.
About the role
Being the first point of contact at school for parents, pupils, staff and all visitors, you will be juggling the demands of a busy reception desk whilst managing a multi extension switchboard.
You will offer a professional, warm and friendly welcome, both face to face and on the telephone, ensuring calls and visitors are dealt with in a timely, professional and effective manner.
Other tasks include providing high quality administrative support as required, sorting daily incoming post, taking in deliveries and generally contributing to the smooth running of the wider school admin team.

About you
The ideal candidate will have previously worked as a receptionist, maybe with experience of working in a school or similar setting although this is not essential.
Strong oral and written communication skills are key and, as no two days are the same, being a good organiser and being able to prioritise your own workload are essential skills required for this role.
It is essential that the postholder understands the need for confidentiality and sensitivity when speaking with all stakeholders on the phone and face to face, including staff, students and other professionals, and has an awareness of GDPR.
This post requires an individual who can keep calm and focused under pressure, with a mature and unflustered attitude.
