As a PublicHealth InformationAnalystyou will focus on analysing health and care data to improve public health outcomes in line withthe Midlandsstrategy, support decision-making, and enhance the efficiency of healthcare services. The person is expected to complete aMaster’sdegree level HCIS apprenticeship (Health & Care Intelligence Specialist) as accelerated training over a22 monthperiod.
The successful candidate will spend around 20% of their time studying and will be in a cohort class of other apprentices for peer support.
Apprentices will learn how to design studies in population health, public health and epidemiology and lead on analytical projects that will improve implementation of services and inform evidence-based decision making and policy across health and social care.
They will obtain and work with existing health and caredata,andalso have responsibility for designing or carrying out bespoke data collections whenrequired.

As an Analyst specialising in Public Health, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary community supporting managers and staff across the Midlands. The post holder will use their Public Health focus to support the Midlands region to access the right intelligence to underpin the work that they do and the decisions that they make. Additionally, it is expected that the successful candidate will support the adoption of a public health ethos into healthcare analysis: both within and across health and care organisations.
The post holder will support a team of senior analytical managers within the Midlands Regional Analytical Team which will provide strategic analysis for insight into Public Health across the region.
In particular the post holder will:
• Demonstrate knowledge and established practice of a variety and depth of analytical techniques (including advanced Excel skills) to provide quality, timely analysis and intelligence.
• Conduct comprehensive data analysis to support/ evaluate public health initiatives.
• Be adaptable when finding analytical solutions to problems, to analyse and triangulate data in innovative ways and present findings clearly to a range of audiences. Understand the importance of maintaining quality within analysis.
• Be able to largely drive their own work programme. Use initiative to identify Public Health data sources and determine appropriate analysis techniques.
• Provide guidance to the team and support the use of best practice to ensure data analysis aligns with public health polices and regulations.
