Junior Safety Officer - West London - Electrical & Mechanical Projects
One of Europe’s leading building contractors has an exceptional opportunity for a driven Health and Safety Graduate to join a supportive and professional health and safety team. Reporting to the Head of Safety for the UK, you will get the opportunity to work on a number of different projects in London with a once-a-month visit to Coventry. A roaming role, you will be instrumental in supporting the project teams.

You will gain valuable hands-on experience complementing your educational knowledge to ensure you are truly prepared for an exciting career in the construction industry. You will need to have completed a relevant degree qualification or Higher Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a great team on some of the UK’s largest and most exciting construction projects.
Areas of Training:
1. Implement the company's health, safety, quality, and environmental policy, procedures, and management systems.
2. Advise & assist site management in drafting and communicating Method Statements, Safe Plans of Action, and Tool Box Talks.
3. Provide advice, guidance, and instruction in all health & safety matters to management, safety representatives, and employees (including sub-contractors where appropriate).
4. Deliver Health & Safety induction programmes for new employees or sub-contractors working on site.
5. Conduct regular inspections and site audits, reporting findings to site and senior company management. Strict follow-up is required to ensure that actions are dealt with immediately.
6. Ensure that all accidents are reported, recorded, and investigated, and that suitable notification is given to the Directors, Health & Safety Authority, and Insurers as required.
7. Promote the Company mission of being a healthy and incident and injury-free workplace.
Requirements:
1. Hold a Degree or Diploma in OHS; this is a must as access on sites is not permitted without a relevant Degree or Higher Diploma in OHS.
2. Driver's licence and comfortable driving in London.
3. Positive attitude.
4. Excellent IT skills.
5. Confident, proactive, and have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
6. Experience in safety in the construction industry is highly desirable.
