Exercise Physiologist in Pulmonary Rehabilitation

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exercise physiologist with an interest in managing patients with respiratory health problems to join a progressive, award-winning multi-disciplinary specialist team.
The successful candidate will have a specialised clinical role within respiratory services which involves assessment and management of patients with different respiratory conditions. Furthermore, the role will involve prescribing exercise for a variety of respiratory conditions.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide delivery of a successful Pulmonary Rehabilitation programme across the Wirral and evaluate good outcomes.
2. Maintaining high standards of practice within the team are fundamental aspects of the post.
3. The role also has the possibility of future collaboration with the Cardiac Rehabilitation Service.
4. Travel across sites within a hospital setting as well as community venues where the programmes are delivered is expected.

Person Specification
Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
* Minimum of BSc in Exercise Physiology or closely related subject.
* Evidence of postgraduate study in relevant subject areas.
* Ability to facilitate exercise tolerance testing for diagnostic and prescriptive purposes.
* Member of Register of Exercise professionals.
* Evidence of leadership qualification.
Knowledge and Skills
* Experience of working within a Pulmonary Rehabilitation setting.
* Proven experience and ability to facilitate group and individual exercise sessions for different client/patient groups.
* Proven ability to facilitate and develop group education sessions.
* Extensive exercise physiology-based knowledge in relation to respiratory disease.
* Experience of managing a complex clinical caseload.
* Leadership skills and previous experience of mentoring students and junior staff including clinical supervision.
* Excellent IT skills and ability to innovate new ways of working to ensure continued efficiencies within the service.

* Excellent/advanced communication skills.
* Strong leadership skills with demonstrable enthusiasm for driving forward excellence in patient care.
* Ability to support management in designing and implementing exercise and education programmes, audit programmes and supporting research activity in relevant field.

* Ability to work unsupervised within a busy and highly proactive, innovative environment using own initiative when required.
* Ability to motivate and enthuse both staff and patients alike throughout the rehabilitation process.
