About the Role - The Tumour Profiling group specialises in histology and image analysis. The Senior Scientist role will primarily be performing histological processing of patient biopsy samples and carrying out immunohistochemistry (IHC), multiplex immunofluorescence (IF and mIF), in situ hybridization (ISH) and IHC/ISH protocols on automated slide-based tissue platforms. The role will also require analysis of the data collected from these platforms, which involves marker thresholding, developing and running classification algorithms in the image analysis software, and integrating these outputs into the team’s tumour tissue (histology) database. The position will also involve the handling of transcriptomic (spatial/bulk) and genomic datasets from patient samples. The job holder will be responsible for the independent interpretation and communication of scientific results they generate. Additionally, the Senior Scientist may also be involved in interactions with external partners, such as collaborators or vendors. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES In partnership with senior members of the team, conduct biopsy sample processing and laboratory analysis to enable translational sciences and/or clinical study objectives. Analyse, summarise and record experimental results and maintain relevant databases and records Participate in group/project meetings and discussions. Contribute to data interpretation and communication, including the scientific content of manuscripts and internal/external presentations Contribute to routine lab maintenance QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Degree in Life Sciences, or related discipline. Substantial and relevant post-graduate experience within academic or industry setting, preferably including an MSc or PhD in a relevant scientific area. Experience of histology, in situ hybridisation and imaging laboratory procedures Histological skills, such as: FFPE Tissue sectioning using microtome Immunohistochemistry In situ hybridisation (e.g.: RNAscope) Experience handling human tissue Ability to follow protocols Computer literate and ability to familiarise with different IT systems Excellent numeracy and English language skills (both written and verbal) Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) At Adaptimmune we embrace diversity and equality of opportunity.
