Our client based in Farnborough have an excellent opportunity to join their team a Quality Apprentice on a permanent basis.
The Quality Apprentice will report initially to one of the Quality Engineers/Managers within the Product Operations function.
In this role, our client will support your educational development within your journey in the Aerospace industry.
You will work towards completion of a Level 4 HNC in Engineering, a Level 2 Diploma in Aerospace and Aviation Engineering and a Level 4 Diploma in Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing.
They will also support your professional development; you will join the Institution of Mechanical Engineers as a student member and your studies, along with the wealth of experience that they offer you, will culminate in your becoming a technician member of the IMechE.
Upon completion of the apprenticeship and subject to your overall performance, there may be an opportunity for further study to enable you to be qualified to degree level and achieve Incorporated/Chartered Engineer status in the future, leading to full-time permanent employment with our client.
Primary Responsibilities
Support the Quality and Manufacturing Engineering teams to deliver on key business objectives
Reduce scrap through project identification and investigation
Support supplier and manufacturing quality with audits and preparation
Review and analyse data for monitoring processes and product performance
Review customer specifications and support customer service & sales teams
Perform straightforward testing of parts and maintenance of equipment as instructed
Create and deliver simple technical presentations to other employees
Assist Engineers with the writing of product and project technical documentation
Support the identification of key characteristics or critical to quality functions
Support the Mechanical Inspection and release department to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements
Perform basic design calculations and simple mechanical or thermal analyses
Be aware of and comply with current technology export control legislation and all regulatory requirements
Collaborate with the Innovation team and keep abreast of current/developing technologies
Be a participant in internal and design reviews, bids, proposals and CI activities, asking questions and taking detailed notes
Support the PLM Controller in their role to ensure full configuration control of documentation
Support operations teams with day-to-day activities and issues that may arise
Form a relationship with the Manufacturing Engineering teams and become aware of their function within the business
Qualifications/Skills/Experience
Essential
AS or A-level in Science, Engineering or Mathematics, OR;
Level 3 BTEC in Engineering, OR;
GCSE grades 9-4 in Mathematics and English plus an Advanced Engineering Apprenticeship
Desirable
Level 2 Functional Skills Qualification in English and Mathematics
Level 2 Qualification in Performing Engineering Operations
Experience in using any CAD system for 3D modelling or 2D drawing
Computer literacy and high competence in all MS Office applications particularly MS Excel
Interest or passion with the Aerospace or Aviation industries
Motivated by innovation and driven to keep up to date with industry advances
Self-reliant nature and able to use initiative
Strong problem solving and decision-making skills; with the ability to communicate clearly written and orally to Engineers
