We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist, with a passion for rehabilitation, to join our Integrated Intermediate care rehabilitation team, as we seek to expand our service. Our team works across 2 sites at Rowley Regis Hospital and Leasowes, Smethwick.

This role is suitable for a current, experienced Band 5 Occupational Therapist looking to secure their first senior role or someone already worked at a Band 6 level who is keen to specialise in the area. We would be willing to consider part-time and job share opportunities. For the right candidate, a Band 6 development post may also be considered.
Main duties of the job
You will be part of a multi-professional team working collaboratively with others to deliver person-centred, coordinated care from the point of admission onto the intermediate care unit, to discharge. You will work with patients with a variety of conditions including trauma and orthopaedic patients, neurological impairment (stroke, MS, Parkinson’s, spinal injuries), frailty and those with cognitive deficits, management of long term conditions including cardiac and respiratory conditions.
* Completing holistic assessments and treatment plans for patients with a variety of health conditions and backgrounds.
* Implementing individualised rehabilitation and exercise programmes.
* Completing specialist Occupational Therapy assessments (cognitive assessments and rehab planning, moving and handling assessments and plans, specialist equipment provision).
* The challenge of improving the physical and functional abilities of someone suffering with a long term condition such as Parkinson's or COPD.
* Co-ordination of therapy team on a daily basis to ensure the caseload across the wards is delegated and completed appropriately.
* Contributing to embedding a Discharge to Assess model.
* Champion the role of Occupational Therapy within the department, trust and local area.
* Supervising junior staff and assistants in their development and progression within their roles.
* Service development and teaching opportunities within the established teaching programme and Quality Improvement initiatives.

Experience
* Broad post graduate experience as an Occupational Therapist in a rotational post.
* Experience of working as part of an Occupational Therapy team and the wider MDT.
* Contributing to the clinical education of less experienced staff or undergraduate Occupational Therapy students.
Qualifications
* Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
* HCPC Registration.
* Membership of BAOT.
* Accredited training as Practice Educator.
Knowledge
* Evidence of involvement with service development.
* Demonstrate ability to comprehend and work within Trust policies of data protection, equal opportunities and health and safety to meet the differing needs of patients.
* Supervision and delegation of work to Junior Occupational Therapists and support staff.
* Knowledge of Clinical Governance and its implications for the Service.
* Specialist theoretical knowledge of a broad range of pathologies to underpin practice.
* Competent IT skills including presentations.
