We are seeking to recruit Band 5 1st Level Registered Nurses or Operating Department Practitioner with current NMC registration / HCPC registration to the post in Anaesthetic Care Unit at Scarborough Hospital.

Our surgical specialties include: Maxillofacial, ENT, Gynaecology, Urology, Upper GI, Orthopaedics as well as Acutes and Trauma.
We welcome applicants from both experienced and new qualified ODP's /Nurses/ anaesthetic nurses. You do not need any additional qualifications to be eligible for this post, but hold passion, enthusiasm and commitment to provide patient centred care.

Main duties of the job
4. Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures
5. Maintain a safe and clean working environment
6. Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.
7. Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
8. Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient
9. Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct
10. Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands
11. Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures

Qualifications
Essential criteria
21. Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (Level 1) or qualified Operating Department Practitioner with HCPC registration
22. Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
Desirable criteria

Experience

26. Previous theatre experience at Band 5

27. Demonstrate awareness of current issues in health care

29. Demonstrate awareness of theatre specialty, and/or specific needs of patients undergoing surgical procedures.
30. Demonstrates awareness of evidence based practice within a Theatre environment
