Project Engineer | Mechanical Bias | Cambridge | £NEG | Monday to Thursday
A world leading manufacturer part of a multi-billion Dollar corporation exporting 95% of its products to major leading brands globally, is now seeking a Project Engineer in addition to their successful team. This exciting new role is to increase their Engineering resource to fully support the Organisation’s continued expansion.
Reporting to the Technical Project Manager, your primary duties are to be the technical lead in the development of Product & Process projects. This is a hands-on role working with the Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing teams where you will ensure project handover is completed in a smooth transition, meeting the agreed timeline.
Ideally, you’ll be Apprentice trained or degree/masters calibre in engineering or QBE/similar discipline with a minimum of 10 year’s exposure within an NPD/machine tool room environment with some CNC programming, machine building, fault finding and repair. Machinery Automation, PLC programming, CAD, Strip Steel reel to reel coil handling and machinery control exposure would be an advantage.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide direction, guidance, and engineering expertise to team members
2. Review work of designers, engineers, and other project team members
3. Responsible for the completion of assigned engineering projects within the agreed budget and guidelines
4. Communicate clear technical details, ideas and concepts to ensure project goals are completed on time
5. Drive design of product meeting market guides, meeting cost on time with reliability and high volume
6. Identify project risks and implement risk reduction plans
7. Analyse, evaluate and execute alternatives to meet the best specification of design into mass production
8. Technical accountability for project execution, integration of complex processes and standards
9. Conduct design and safety reviews, necessary approvals for product development phase progressions
10. Recommend changes to existing processes, standards, and procedures
11. Maintain/share awareness of competitive offerings in the business climate and industry
12. Work extensively with all operations, key business partners and suppliers with clear gateway stages
13. Present project status regularly to all stakeholders
14. Provide support to the manufacturing engineering function ensuring a smooth transition handover
15. Support Technical Project Manager ensuring the Engineering Team contribution to annual overheads
16. Promote and maintain a safe clean and tidy approach at all times in line with the Company’s H&S
