Job Title: Sepsis Lead
Hours per week: 37.5 hours per week (week days / weekend / BH cover and rotation to nights) (part-time hours would be considered)
Perm/Fixed Term: Secondment for 12 months
Salary: £35,392-£42,618 per annum

We are looking to employ a practitioner, ideally with critical care/theatre or OPD experience, to provide clinical leadership, education and training to improve the outcomes of patients with Sepsis across the trust. Hours for Sepsis role are up to 30 per week with the remaining hours working in a clinical role within the directorate.

Key Responsibilities:
1. A key member of the Critical Care Outreach Team providing proactive clinical leadership, education and training to improve the outcomes for patients with Sepsis.
2. Provide support and specialist advice to all staff, patients and members of the public regarding the early recognition, assessment and treatment of Sepsis.
3. Promote the reduction in incidence of Sepsis across the Trust, through expert advice, risk assessment, surveillance, audit, education, and the development of specialized protocols, policies, and guidance.
4. Support other members of the Critical Care Outreach Team in their daily duties and work effectively as part of the wider CSS group.
5. Support the Lead HoN for Sepsis to deliver the corporate Sepsis key performance indicators.
6. Drive qualitative, innovative, productive, safe evidence-based nursing care which promotes best practice and best outcomes for patients.
7. Act as a clinical expert and resource for members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Clinical Responsibilities:
1. Provide specialist advice in the area of Sepsis to all health care staff through evidence-based advice, guidance, and policies.
2. Provide information/advice regarding Sepsis to patients and their visitors/relatives.
3. Maintain a presence in clinical areas to help identify potential Sepsis in patients.
4. Develop and improve Sepsis care in conjunction with external organizations.
Educational Responsibilities:
1. Devise, implement, and evaluate education and training for all staff within the Trust.
2. Participate in reflective practice and share learning to improve clinical care.
3. Deliver education sessions for Sepsis to various settings/audiences.
Audit and Surveillance Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the development of audit and report measurable outcomes.
2. Participate in any Sepsis surveillance programmes.
3. Use surveillance data to identify trends and appropriate interventions.
Research and Development Responsibilities:
1. Engage and lead research and development opportunities.
2. Critically appraise research to inform clinical practice.
Leadership & Management Responsibilities:
1. Represent Clinical Support Services at appropriate meetings.
2. Build collaborative relationships with teams and colleagues across the Trust.
Personal Development Responsibilities:
1. Identify personal development needs with the line manager.
2. Maintain a current professional portfolio and ensure compliance with relevant registration requirements.
