The role
Are you ready to make a real difference for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? We are looking for an inspirational Deputy Head of SEND to join our leadership team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of SEND services in Tameside.
As Deputy Head of SEND, you will support the Head of SEND Service and deputise when required, providing strategic leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, inclusive SEND services. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with stakeholders, including schools, families, and health and social care partners, to drive improvements and champion the best outcomes for children and young people.
You will lead on key areas of SEND service delivery, including overseeing statutory processes, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice, and supporting the development of provision to meet the needs of children and young people up to the age of 25. Your ability to inspire and lead teams, combined with your knowledge of SEND legislation and commitment to continuous improvement, will be crucial in delivering on our ambitions.
In this role, you will not only manage and support SEND service managers but also play a key part in the local area SEND partnership, contributing to strategic initiatives and ensuring resources are used effectively. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of service innovation and improvement, working to ensure that every child and young person has the opportunity to thrive.
If you are a proven leader with a track record of delivering impactful results in SEND or a related field and are passionate about making a difference, we would love to hear from you.
About you
You will be someone who thrives on making a real difference to the lives of children and young people, with a commitment to driving high-quality and inclusive SEND services.
You will have a strong background in SEND or a related field, with proven experience in leading teams, managing statutory processes, and delivering service improvements. Your ability to provide clear vision and direction, alongside your thorough knowledge of SEND legislation and best practices, will enable you to inspire and support those around you to achieve excellence.
As a skilled communicator and collaborator, you’ll build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders, from families and schools to health and social care partners. You will bring a strategic mindset, ensuring that services not only meet statutory requirements but also deliver outstanding outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
We’re looking for someone with a flexible and resilient approach, who can manage complex priorities and champion new initiatives with energy and confidence. You will be committed to continuous professional development and take pride in leading a team that consistently delivers the very best for the communities we serve.
